Bowed Walls Parallel Kit

The Bowed Walls Co has two kits: The Kit covered on this page is for the wall that runs parallel, or in the same direction as the floor joists that are above it.

Be certain to check all walls. Most often, if one wall is damaged, another wall has damage as well.

Our heavy duty bracing kits come complete with all braces and mounting hardware. However, it does not include the steel post or the wooden braces that go between the 2nd and 3rd floor joists from the wall.

The reason these posts are not included is simply they are ridiculously expensive to ship in small quantities, and they can be obtained locally at most hardware stores, metal dealers, or machine shops.

The wooden braces are not included because you can pick them up from any local lumber yard cheaper than we can ship them to you. Ask if they have any in their scrap lumber pile. They will usually sell these "scraps" at a discount.

All of our kit designs are based on our 30+ years of hands-on experience in basement and foundation repair. In all those years, we have never seen a basement wall that could be braced with less than three kits.

Therefore, an initial order of three kits is required. Any quantity of kits can be ordered, as long as the quantity is three or more.

You will need one kit for every 4' of damaged area. When measuring, be sure to add one kit for your starting point.

Our kits are manufactured of heavy grade steel, they are made to last, and can be installed with common hand tools. If needed we are available to answer any questions. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.

A brief note concerning these pictures: We realize that the electrical wiring pictured here is not exactly up to code, but we included these pictures to emphasis the point that great care must be taken when install our kits so things like wiring and plumbing are not damaged. We do not recommend that our customers do their own wiring repairs. Electricity is powerful and dangerous, and any repairs or improvements should be handled by a qualified individual or contractor.

All of our kits come with complete instructions detailing the installation process. Once installed, they can be hidden behind finished walls and drop ceilings.

Our Lower Bracket is made from thick 1/4" steel and firmly held in place by 2 large bolts specially designed for use in concrete floor. These can be easily installed using a hammer drill, readily available from most tool rental stores.
